In accordance with the Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD), Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are required on sale, rent or construction of a building. The methodology and certification of assessor schemes is governed by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) http://www.communities.gov.uk/corporate/ in England & Wales, the Department of Finance and Personnel (DFP) http://www.dfpni.gov.uk/index.htm in Northern Ireland and in Scotland the Scottish Buildings Standards Agency http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Built-Environment/Building/Building-standards/profinfo/epcintro

Heating and Ventilation Certification Associates (H&VCA) is an approved accreditation Scheme to accredit the assessors needed as a result of legislative updates and industry developments.

All our members follow a Code of Conduct if you have cause to complain about one of our members then you will need to follow the process outlined in the document  'Complaining about an Assessor'.  This does not affect your statutory rights. H&VCA will keep your data in accordance with the data protection Act 1998.
